The Process

The first step is for the prospective golf course Owner to meet with the Designer.

We at Phil Jacobs Design believe it is important that the Designer and Owner feel comfortable with each other.

After all they will be working very closely for a period of at least  two years.

A golf course project will always have interesting challenges and this process must not become a hardship because of personality differences.

Initially a visit to the site and an understanding of the brief for the project is required for the Designer.

The Master Planning and detailed Design Phase of a typical golf course project lasts ± 3 months whereas the construction and grow-in of the golf course can take up to 24 months.

Construction drawings typically consist of grading, cut to fill, greens detail, irrigation, tree planting, grass planting and bunker detail drawings.

These drawings together with construction Specifications for a particular project make up the construction package.
