Phil Jacobs started his career in golf course construction some twenty six years ago.
He has a background in Land Surveying which stood him in good stead when it came to setting out levels and grades for golf courses. After being involved in the construction of two golf courses, Phil then ventured into golf course maintenance and maintained a championship standard golf course for a period of 18 months. Having been a keen golfer since the age of ten, he became fascinated with the design process of a golf course once he had been exposed to the construction and maintenance of golf courses. This led to him becoming one of the founding partners in Gary Player Design, based in Johannesburg and serving all markets from this base, with the exception of the Americas.

courses in many different countries, including Japan, China, Hong Kong, the Philippines,
Taiwan, Thailand, Singapore, South Africa, France, Belgium, Poland and Egypt. On
these projects he was responsible for the routing of the golf courses, the production
of the working drawings and technical specifications, general supervision of the
construction process and co-
